OWNER OPERATED: Di and Brian Hutchinson own and operate Estuary Escapes Fishing Charters and are passionate about sharing the unbelievable fishing on offer in Darwin Harbour and their local billabongs and lagoons with their clients from all over the country.

They offer half and full day sessions in the Darwin area as well as extended escapes throughout the year targeting barramundi and a range of tropical estuary species.

Their trips include transport to and from fishing locations and your accommodation as well as morning tea, lunch, chilled water, high quality fishing rods, reels and tackle plus a wealth of local knowledge that will put you right on the action.

BILLABONG ESCAPES: Experience NT in its rawest form! Learn a variety of techniques to target barramundi, mangrove jack plus other estuary species while witnessing saltwater crocs in their natural habitat and the Territory’s amazing birdlife. Learn how to fish tropical estuaries and coastal creeks to their full potential.

RUN-OFF FISHING ESCAPES: If you’ve got barra ‘tunnel vision’, then this is the trip for you. Make the most of the opportunity to target the biggest barra you’ve ever seen from some of the NT’s most iconic big fish producing locations including Shady Camp and the Mary River, the Daly River and Dundee Beach.

Large barramundi will hunt the concentrations of baitfish that form in the rivers and are targeted by trolling and casting lures with upgraded hooks and beefed up leaders.

Run Off Escapes can be booked from February to May each year and are your best chance of hooking a wild ‘metrey’. Trophy sized threadfin salmon are also frequently encountered on these trips.

HARBOUR ESCAPES: The fishing on offer within an hour or so of Darwin’s CBD has to be seen to be believed. Fishing locations vary depending on tides and conditions and include Darwin Harbour itself, Dundee Beach, Shady Camp, West Arm, Bynoe Harbour, Shoal Bay and Adelaide River.

You’ll have the opportunity to tangle with barramundi, mangrove jack, threadfin salmon, queenfish, several types of trevally, line burning pelagics and an array of tasty reef species.
