North Stradbroke Island is right around the corner, but it feels like it is a million miles away.
The Gold Coast Hinterland stretches from the suburban fringe of the Goldie inland to the Tweed Range, Nimmel Range, Tamborine Mountain, Numinbah Valley and the eastern parts of McPherson Range.
Right on the doorstep of Queensland’s capital, Bribie offers visitors some great 4WD access campsites, as well as a network of offroad tracks at the northern end of the island.
Lamington National Park is a lush retreat in the Gold Coast hinterland about 70km inland from the coast and 115km from Brisbane.
The track was commissioned and is still used for access by some of the local farms, and offers visitors fantastic scenic views as it winds its way up the mountain range.
Amamoor State Forest, one of southeast Queensland’s best-kept secrets, is just 20km southwest of Gympie and 120 clicks due north of Brisbane.
