RESTORING LIGHT PLASTICS

G’day Adam,

My 2008 GXL headlights are weathered on the top and are yellow and discoloured. Is there any way of restoring them?

Barry Green, Vic.

Hey Barry,

Places like Autobarn and Burson sell headlight restoration kits. They usually have a three-part system to them. First, you sand the headlight with light paper, then you polish them and, finally, you treat them with a UV protector.

I’ve used them in the past and, sure, they bring the lights back up again but I have found that you really do need to take care of them.

The UV protector is very important otherwise they will fade a lot faster and, in six months, they may look worse. Even after they have been treated they sometimes still fade.

Hope that helps,

GO NUTS!

Adam
