Southeast Queensland residents are a lucky lot in many respects, and easy access to quality 4WD tracks is certainly one of them.
Duck Creek Road is a fairly well maintained 4WD track a little south of Beaudesert that accesses the back of Lamington National Park.
The track was commissioned and is still used for access by some of the local farms, and offers visitors fantastic scenic views as it winds its way up the mountain range before meeting the sealed road at the top that leads to O’Reilly’s Tourist Centre.
This track is within easy range of a daytrip for Brisbanites and most southeast Queensland residents. Camping is available within the nearby Lamington National Park if you’ve got a little more time on your hands and are looking to make a weekend of it
STUFF TO DO
4WDING is the name of the game out here, although its pretty gentle driving if we’re being honest. It’s an unsealed road, so don’t forget to drop your tyre pressures and to keep your wits about you, but if there hasn’t been significant rain, most vehicles and drivers shouldn’t experience any trouble at all.
LAMINGTON NATIONAL PARK is accessed via the sealed road at the top of the track, and offers visitors a whole treasure trove of goodies – there’s one main camping area available, as well as a network of 4WD and walking tracks.

LOCATION: the Duck Creek Road is located 107km south of Brisbane and can be reached in a little under two hours drive time from the Queensland capital. Access is via the M3 and M1 motorways.
CAMPING is available in the nearby Lamington National Park in the Green Mountains section. The camping area is adjacent to the visitor information centre and is accessible by 2WD vehicle. 20 sites are available and fees of $5.95 per person or $23.80 per family per night apply.
FUEL is available at the Gold Coast to the east and at Tambourine Mountain to the north.
