IS MY FRONT BAR MOVING?

THE FRONT BAR ILLUSION

G’day Adam,

I’ve just had an ARB front bar fitted to my 200 Series. I took the rig offroad for the first time the other day and noticed the bar moves a little when I hit bumps and corrugations, is that right or is something loose?

Thank you,

K.Bennett, Vic.

Hi mate,

We have found that the front bars look like they move a lot but in actual fact they don’t. The front bar is bolted to the chassis of the vehicle so they are solid.

The body is mounted on rubber and what you are actually seeing is the body moving not the bar. We have fitted a number of front bars to Cruisers and Prados and they all do it.

I am building a 200 Series for myself at the moment and I also have an ARB bar that looks like it is moving. It is quite normal.

You will see that there is a gap of roughly 25mm between the bumper cut and the front bar. This is there to allow for movement, otherwise the body of the 4WD will hit the bar on corrugations.

Hope that helps.

GO NUTS!

Adam
